The traditional English "five bar gate" can be seen
throughout the beautiful British countryside. 
While there are many
variations from the basic design they all embody heavy lumber, mortise and tenon
construction and a unique heavy duty line of hardware.
It is difficult to drive a mile or two in the British country side without seeing a five bar gate. The design dates back over two hundred years and endures today because of their aesthetic appeal, strength, and versatility.
