If the gate is the same thickness as the post install the gate stop on the back of the gate post (figure on the left above). If the gate is thinner than the gate post install the gate stop on the front edge of the gate (figure on the right above) so that it encounters the post when the gate closes.
We strongly recommend the use of a gate stop with all gates to prevent damage to the gate and latch due to excessive slamming or wind gusts. Installed properly, the gate stop takes the force of the
gate closing, not the latch. Every door in you house has a jamb and so should your gate. Manufactured from 304 stainless steel with a polyester powder coating.
